The partner is the Sara Goodwin Memorial Foundation. Hard Rock Park is the primary sponsor and producer of the event. The Foundation, which is working with SOS Healthcare and SOS Children’s Villages on a variety of causes, many of which have a local Myrtle Beach focus. One reason we partnered with the SOS charities is because of the great work they do with children.
Hard Rock Café and Hotels sponsor many great charitable causes worldwide. This event is presented by Hard Rock Park and has a Myrtle Beach focus.
The money is being raised in a few ways – by corporate sponsorship and donations, participant fundraising, individual donations and a Silent Auction.
Hard Rock is producing the event and ensuring that all proceeds raised go to the Foundation and ultimately to the good causes they are intended for.
This is an on going partnership – the event will take place each year. Our vision is to ultimately build an SOS Children’s Village right here in Myrtle Beach.
Sara is Steven Goodwin’s (CEO of Hard Rock Park) late wife. She passed away tragically and unexpectedly last year. It’s called Sara’s Beach Walk because of her and Steven’s love of strolling on the beach.
Because of their work with children. Sara believed that helping children to help themselves is the best way to help them develop as people.
The walk is being held Sept. 20, 21 & 22. The course route is being finalized over the next couple of weeks, but it will encompass areas like Garden City, Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. The entire Grand Strand – a unique beach and a unique walk.
We will have a great lineup of entertainment to welcome the walkers back home to the Hard Rock Park Backstage Tour. We will feature a live concert stage and also have some kids activities such as an inflatable slide, inflatable bouncing room, stilt walkers, a juggler and a sleight of hand magician.
Absolutely, this event is a great opportunity for the local community to get behind a local cause. People can become a fundraiser or volunteer for any of the numerous volunteer roles we will have open throughout the event.
This event is local, but the Sara Goodwin Memorial Foundation will continue to work with both SOS charities. The Sara Goodwin Memorial Foundation has already sponsored/adopted 20 children and plans to assist many more down the line. We are also hoping to ultimately build an SOS Children’s Village right here in Myrtle Beach, along with SOS Healthcare, who is working on providing autistic children with trained dogs (to assist them in communicating and interacting with people).
